The Miss Firecracker Contest
By Beth Henley
Directed by John Mossman
Small town orphan Carnelle has dreams of winning the local
beauty pageant, salvaging her tarnished reputation. Assisting her is her
backwoods seamstress Popeye, and cousins Delmount, newly released from an insane
asylum, and Elain, a former Miss Firecracker who's left her husband. Lyrical and
touching, this is Henley at her most hilarious.
PLEASE NOTE:
"Both NPR (WBEZ) and The Chicago
Tribune have led people to believe that Artistic Home's current production, The
Miss Firecracker Contest, has been closed. IT HAS NOT.
However, we are no longer able to
charge admission. This is bad news for us,
but great news for anyone who has not seen the show or
would like to see it again. We are still going strong
and plan on continuing our run."

Waiting for Godot
By Samuel Beckett
Directed by Nate Roberts
Waiting for Godot is probably Samuel Beckett's most famous
play. It is a play like no other, fusing the comic and the tragic in a soulful
vaudeville. The characters, the actors are everyman, and their plight, their
obstinant hope, their games and their patter, seem universal. It has been
(somewhat inaccurately) described as a play in which nothing happens,
twice.
It is a comedy, a tragedy, a vaudeville. There will be
laughing, there will be crying. There will be singing, there will be dancing,
there will be thinking.
Directed by Nate Roberts, and performed by Kurt Bullis, Josh
Casburn, Ben Petty, Rachel Rizzo, and Eric Singley, the show will run December
12-13 and 17-20, with performances nightly at 7:30 pm, and an additional 2:00 pm
matinee on December 20.
