The Miss Firecracker Contest
By Beth Henley
Directed by John Mossman

Small town orphan Carnelle has dreams of winning the local beauty pageant, salvaging her tarnished reputation. Assisting her is her backwoods seamstress Popeye, and cousins Delmount, newly released from an insane asylum, and Elain, a former Miss Firecracker who's left her husband. Lyrical and touching, this is Henley at her most hilarious.
PLEASE NOTE:
"Both NPR (WBEZ) and The Chicago Tribune have led people to believe that Artistic Home's current production, The Miss Firecracker Contest, has been closed. IT HAS NOT.
However, we are no longer able to charge admission. This is bad news for us, but great news for anyone who has not seen the show or would like to see it again. We are still going strong and plan on continuing our run."
-- Katherine O'Neill, Artistic Home Ensemble Member.
