As you may have noticed, there's no central place to get information about Industry Nights in Chicago.
Often a theatre won't decide to offer industry tix until a day or two before the designated performance — when it's already too late to publicize the details through the usual channels. This is my solution...

The Free And Cheap Theatre Weekly Update started as an excuse to email my friends every week... and, yes, to publicize my name and work as an actress.

I was poor. My friends were poor. I thought, they'd probably like to know about Industry Nights.

Flashback to my first year out of college:

I was living in Chicago and just starting to work in the professional theatre community. I saw notices for Actors' Nights but thought, no one ever goes to those.

Six months later I was dating an actor who, within a span of ten days, got me into four incredible shows for a total of $10. I realized not only were Actor's Nights a wonderful gift to poor, starving artists such as myself but I had been avoiding shows because I was worried about spending a lot of money on a bad show. In the process, I was missing a lot of really great opportunities to study my craft.

The lesson I learned was valuable. The boyfriend on the other hand...

So when I was looking for an excuse to email my friends, I settled on something that I, myself, wanted to know more about, Industry Nights. And now, almost two (2) years later, I find myself carving out a hub for Actors and Actors' nights.
